The Pitchside Report
Read the latest updates from PitchUp - for investors, customers, first believers and sports tech enthusiasts.
PitchUp is powering participation and access in sport.
Last quarter, we committed to a bold evolution; to build Australia’s one-stop platform to find, book, and play sport.
This quarter delivered meaningful validation of that vision - alongside clear signals about where we are winning, and where we are sharpening focus.
🇦🇺 A landmark partnership: Australian Sports Commission
One of our proudest milestones to date is being selected by the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) as one of five Australian sports technology companies named to the inaugural ASC Innovation Hub, The Park, from a field of 60+ applicants nationwide.
Through this program, PitchUp will collaborate alongside national sporting organisations and leading institutes, including the Australian Institute of Sport, Victorian Institute of Sport, SportWest, and national governing bodies, to help tackle some of sport’s biggest participation and access challenges.
Being recognised by the ASC is strong validation that the problem we’re solving, activating more hours in sporting spaces, is nationally significant. Schools sit at the centre of this challenge, and PitchUp is proud to represent the facility access and booking layer of the ecosystem. Read more here.
Key Metrics
Metric | This Quarter | Total | Growth |
Booking Revenue (GMV) | $7,300 | $101,000 | +9% |
SaaS Revenue | $1,400 | $12,000 | +10% |
Venues Listed | +83 | 796 | +10% |
Burn | ~$2,000 / month | Stable |
We’ve added more venues to the PitchUp marketplace, enhancing usability for clubs, players, and schools. SaaS revenue is growing, though below expectations, while booking revenue remains a strong indicator of the value PitchUp is creating for the sporting community, with usage increasing this quarter.
Current Challenges
Sales cycle length:
School sales cycles remain long. We’re addressing this by:
Expanding top-of-funnel activity with various tech platforms for mass and personalised outreach
Partnering with organisations such as Active Education Australia and ASBA
Working with consultants and adjacent EdTech providers for warm introductions
Using aggregation and agentic booking to unlock value even before SaaS conversion
Doing whatever it takes to get to customer site visits, including a 2.5-hour journey to Ballarat in the ‘Adrenaline Junkie’ car (zoom in). Always finding the humour in the hard work, this gave us plenty of giggles (hopefully for the readers, too).

Product Momentum
As venue supply continues to grow, we’re advancing PitchUp’s most innovative capabilities alongside our school SaaS product.
We’ve begun building our AI Booking Agent, enabling users to discover and book venues even where PitchUp’s booking system isn’t yet in place.
Early testing has been successful, with completed bookings across two major enterprise council booking systems used by the majority of metropolitan councils.
Our next step is to validate real user demand through a live AI booking assistant, which you can try yourself here! This represents a critical step toward unlocking scale without waiting for full SaaS adoption.
Tech Capacity
PitchUp is excited to form a working partnership with Laura Haines, a proven technology leader with an outstanding track record at Skyscanner, Canva, and Typeform to drive our tech team. With Laura at the helm of our technology solution, we’re significantly accelerating our AI and automation roadmap and laying the foundations for a platform built to scale.
Laura’s experience leading world-class product and engineering teams ensures PitchUp isn’t just adopting new technology - we’re redefining how communities find, book, and play sport.

BASKETBALL AUSTRALIA – FACILITIES INSIGHT
🏀 Basketball Australia unveil 2040 vision and plan to unlock 1,000+ courts, with schools being at the centre of a possible solution
PitchUp attended Basketball Australia’s National Congress, where leaders from across the country discussed how innovation, partnerships, and smarter use of existing spaces can support the future of the sport.
A clear and urgent theme emerged:
Australia is facing a shortage of more than 1,000 indoor basketball courts.
Basketball Australia’s 2040 Vision places schools at the centre of the solution - and for good reason. Schools already house many of the most in-demand courts, yet they remain underutilised outside school hours.
Not due to lack of willingness, but because:
Administrative burden is high
Compliance and policy requirements are complex
Existing systems were not designed with schools in mind
PitchUp shared how schools are using technology to reduce admin overhead, remain compliant, and confidently open facilities to community sport - generating revenue while increasing access.
At PitchUp, we are committed to making facility sharing simple, safe, and worthwhile for schools, while helping sports like basketball grow sustainably.
Wins (Goals + xG)
🌍 From local courts to global stages
We onboarded three new partner venues, including an independent school with world-class facilities and a privately owned facility, to activate spaces for national and international sporting events.
These activations demonstrate how school and venue infrastructure can support not just local participation, but global sporting pathways. Expansion into the private sector further validates PitchUp across:
Government and non-government schools
National and state sporting organisations
Grassroots through to elite clubs
Our marketplace now stands at 796 venues nationwide, strengthening PitchUp’s position as the go-to platform for sporting venues in Australia.

Brand and marketplace interest
We are seeing early inbound interest from global brands, exploring ways to engage with PitchUp’s growing marketplace and grassroots community reach with 1500 monthly visitors and growing month on month.
We intend to pursue partnerships selectively with the right brands in January - those that align with participation outcomes and support long-term platform growth.
Misplaced passes (and learnings)
Aiming to be more targeted and strategic in investor outreach, with clearer narratives and more succinct 1:1 conversations
Not every activation or partnership is worth pursuing - focus and discipline matter as much as momentum
Each misstep is refining how we allocate time, capital, and energy.
Asks - come and join us on the field of play
We’re actively seeking:
Introductions to investors with a strong SportsTech lens
Connections to schools/Principals with fit-for-purpose facilities
Sporting codes and athletes interested in off-field ambassadorships
Together, we can unlock every court, oval, and field across Australia - and beyond.
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year!
